Christina Semmens, a graduate of Marquette University, received a BA in both History and Theology before entering into active duty as an United States Army officer. She then received her MA in History and Secondary Teaching Certification from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and taught social studies at the middle and high school levels, before subsequently receiving a MA in Theology from Catholic Distance University based in Arlington, Virginia.
Since her conversion to Roman Catholicism over twenty-five years ago, Christina has served in a variety of roles within religious education, confirmation preparation, youth ministry, social justice ministry, RCIA, adult faith formation and spirituality, including a period of five years as the Director of Adult Education and Spirituality at St John the Baptist parish in Madison. She also has received Certification in Spiritual Mentorship from the Apostles of Interior Life and the School of Faith under the auspices of Archbishop Joseph Naumann in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas.
In addition to living out her primary vocation as wife and mother, Christina’s desire to share the love of Christ and assist others in finding God’s plan for their lives has her actively involved in ministry as a spiritual mentor, serving as part of the Region VII Regional Service Team pool for the Cursillo Movement, organizing pilgrimages to the March for Life in Washington, DC and the World Meeting of Families, assisting vocations efforts in the Diocese of Birmingham and other evangelization efforts.
in her recreation time, Christina enjoys playing golf (currently has a 14 handicap), participating in outdoor activities like hiking, running and cycling (might even try a Spartan race sometime this year!), reading, watching television shows (Downton Abbey, Sherlock, and Outlander are particular favorites) going to the movies (especially to to watch stories from the Marvel and Star Wars universes), hanging out with family and friends, and taking care of their chocolate Labrador Retreiver, Max. .
