Measuring Up: How to WIN in a World of Comparison–Renee Vidor–1 on 1 Podcast Interview

Several weeks ago, and just before I became sick with COVID, I spent time with Renee Vidor talking with her about her soon to be released book, Measuring Up: How to WIN in a World of Comparison.

Subsequently, Renee’s book has been released and now available worldwide, so I wanted to share this insightful interview with all of you within the Say Yes to Holiness community.

Renee’s book, Measuring Up: How to WIN in a World of Comparison, was born from Renee’s experience of walking down the Vegas strip on vacation, and feeling inferior to every stranger walking by. Her constant feelings of inadequacy compelled Renee to find a solution to the comparison conundrum, and Measuring Up was the result. In her book, you will discover how to:

  • Reduce the expense Comparison is costing you so you can live in freedom.
  • Recognize when Comparison is hijacking your mind and learn practical strategies for maintaining control.
  • Realize who you were created to be so you can confidently do what you were designed to do.

Renee’s takeaway is that we must stop giving compariosn power, and take control of your life starting now.

I have experienced first hand, and spoken and worked with countless others who attest to how comparison can so often be the thief of joy in life, especially within our spiritual lives where we are constantly tempted to compare our prayer lives, retreat experiences or even the good deeds that we do with what others are doing around us. Because of that, I know how desperately Renee’s message and work amongst women is needed.

In this interview, Renee shares about her beliefs that you are more than just a parent, a spouse, an entrepreneur or an employee–you want your life to matter, live with purpose, and make a difference…but it’s easier said than done.

Years ago Renee was a young wife and mom doing the ‘work from home’ thing, striving to find meaning. While she was blessed to stay home with her two children, she felt alone and frustrated as she tried to figure out what she should do with my life.

But after years of research, coaching, trials and failures, she finally realized that she was doing it all wrong–she was looking for what she was created to do–before knowing who she was created to be. It was from this discovery that she then was then empowered to grow into what she was created to do, and her life has become a journey full of adventure and excitement as she discovered her way to implement impact, influence, and income.

Renee is no longer just a wife, mom of two teens and a business owner; she now knows who she’s created to be–more than just roles–and she doing what she is created to do.

Renee’s and my work is similar in that her focus is upon helping others “Be who you’re created to be so you can do what you’re designed to do,” and in addition to her book, Renee trues to do this through her Women’s Community Mastermind. In the Women’s Community, Renee strives to give women a space where they can take off the many masks that women put on in the course of their daily lives.

Renee shared that the Women’s Community came from her own desire to experience a place where titles, defenses, and differences are left at the door; is a judgement-free zone where positivity rules and it’s safe to be vulnerable and authentic; is a space focused around personal & professional growth; where support, encouragement and constructive criticism are the norm; where purpose-driven women share their strengths to serve one another; where women share their weaknesses in order to grow into who they were created to be; a place where individual goals are reached and gaps are closed; and where empowered individuals are successful!

In this podcast episode, I speak with Renee about her journey and about her book, and also the wonderful work that she is doing to help empower women to be who they are created to be. I pray that you find this conversation with Renee to be as interesting and healing as I did, and that it inspires you, and fills you with much hope and encouragement.
