“Being A Holy Listener”–Becky Eldredge 1 on 1 Conversation

Recently, I had the great pleasure to sit down and have a wonderful conversation with Becky Eldredge, Ignatian-trained spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and author of two books: The Inner Chapel (Loyola Press, April 2020) and Busy Lives & Restless Souls (Loyola Press, 2017).   Becky leads a ministry that offers spiritual direction, resources, and retreats (virtual and in-person) rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Like me, she is passionate about Ignatian spirituality and teaching people how to pray and discern, and help people make room for God in the busyness of their lives and invite them deeper in their walk with Christ.   Check […]

“Enduring COVID and Practicing the Presence of God”

My husband woke up not feeling well with a pounding headache, low fever, and tiredness and simply thought he had a sinus infection. Two days later, I felt like I had a sore throat coming on and then woke up feeling like I had gotten run over by a bus. We went to the doctor to be tested, and then received the results that no one wants to hear right now—we were COVID positive. And so, our six-week journey of enduring COVID-19 began. And I say endure, because enduring truly was our experience. For me, I ran a low-grade fever […]

Am I Experiencing Contemplation In My Prayer Life? This Article Helps You Discern Arightly

Absolutely PHENOMENAL article by Dr David Torkington posted on Spiritual about meditation and contemplation. and In particular, Dr. Torkington provides a beautiful insight into understanding how these aspects of prayer are at work within the spiritual life by giving a broader understanding of several prayer practices that speak of how one “enters contemplation.” This article is illuminating and insightful, and my hope is that it helps as you are finalizing your preparations for Lent, too.
