Happy Second Sunday of Lent!
This Sunday’s Gospel shares the story of Jesus’ Transfiguration, and it totally complements the conversation that I had recently with Anne Kertz Kernion, founder of the inspirational greeting card company Cards by Anne.
Anne is also an international lecturer and retreat leader and holds an MA in Theology from Duquesne University, a Certificate in the Science of Happiness, and a Graduate Certification in Positive Psychology. She is also author of A Year of Spiritual Companionship, and enjoys biking and hiking.
Anne’s latest book, Spiritual Practices for the Brain relies on the most current research to link spiritual practices to improved health. Relying on her education and experience in brain development, positive psychology, and theology, Anne is able to relate seemingly simple practices such as focused breathing, gardening, practicing kindness, or going for a walk with powerful results for your mind, body, and soul.
Our conversation spoke about many of these practices as ways to take time to ground ourselves in God’s presence. In addition, we spoke about some of the books Anne has been reading recently, and took a stab at trying to answer the question, “What most makes you come alive?”

Episode 51 “Take Time to Ground Yourself In God’s Presence”
The Transfiguration points to what is possible for each of us when we allow ourselves to be fully grounded in God’s presence to become fully alive human beings. Jesus shows us that when we “become perfect like our Heavenly Father is perfect” and radiate the life of the Spirit, then we, too, are transfigured, and Anne’s work goes deeply into how we can care for our minds, bodies and souls, and help to create the environment in our lives in which this is possible.
I hope that you enjoy listening to this conversation with Anne, and receive nourishment for your Head, Heart, Hands and Feet that helps to inspire, encourage and help you be transfigured this Lenten season ever fully into the saint God created you to be, and so you may continue doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep striving for holiness during this Lenten season.
